New applications for PER.C6 cells

As we just learned, the PER.C6 cell line was developed for producing adenovirus vectors for gene therapy applications. Unfortunately, however, because of their highly immunogenic properties, these vectors were poorly suited for treating genetic diseases such as cystic fibrosis. Here, we’ll learn how out-of-the-box thinking led to applications for this cell line.
