Patents can be filed in a particular nation or region via the national routes. The patent is then filed with the local patent office e.g. United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in USA, Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland (RVO) in the Netherlands and Chinese State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) in China.
