Attrition rates poll

In the 2004 paper  ‘Can the pharmaceutical industry reduce attrition rates?’ Ismail Kola and John Landis describe the high attrition rates in the pharmaceutical industry. In their paper they examine the root causes of the low success rates in the development of new medicinal products.  They suggest that the success rates can be increased and propose  several approaches that can contribute to this. However, since this paper was published in 2004, more recent publications describe basically the same results. It seems that not much progress has been obtained in the overall reduction of attrition rates (see for instance Arrowsmith and Miller, Nat. Rev. Drug Discov. 2013: 12, 569 and Waring et al. Nat. Rev. Drug Discov. 2015:14, 475-486).
